Illegal parking is one of the major issues many municipalities have to deal with. Even well-organized parking services deal with several parking violations on a daily basis. Writing fines is a time-consuming task, different errors may occur while inserting the data; discrepancies in central codes may arise. Information transference is also a time-consuming process, where different errors may be made when inputting data.We have, therefore, developed an information system which enables parking enforcement officers in the field to use a handheld terminal. Reliable, robust handheld terminals RADIX with integrated thermal printer are being used and an application program eParking Enforcement Officer (eRedar), which is in absolute compliance of the new traffic law enforcement in force since 1/1/2005, has been developed.
eRedar (eParking Enforcement Officer) is to be used by Parking Enforcement Services for issuing fine notices, pay orders or simply to keep records of minor offences.
There are two basic modules of software packages:
- software package eParking Enforcement Officer on PCs,
- software package eParking Enforcement Officer on handheld terminals.
The advantages of the mobile software are as follows:
- minor offences are only registered once,
- the number of mistakes is reduced,
- parking enforcement officers perform their duties in the field, offences are automatically transferred into the central database,
- work can be carried out in any weather conditions,
- handwritten forms are no longer required,
- making alterations to the printed copies is simple and fast,
- there is more control over the field work,
- copies can be multi-lingual,
- absolute connection with application program Parking service (Redarska služba) of eTrust company,
- it is possible to use a tablet PC outside the vehicle,
- high level of security of cryptic data.
